Woodcarver, Wordcarver is a collection of poems by author and carver Al Jensen. You should read the one about the kid whittling in the outhouse, and our favotite poem begins...
"As I lie down to sleep I pray
The glue will hold on my parquet..."

For more info, send Al an e-mail or call 520-889-7751

OOPS
Without saying one word to his wife,
The old carver took up his sharp knife
And carelessly carved on his thumb.

When he saw the spurting blood flow
He thought she had best never know
He'd done it again, which was dumb.

He'd sliced and gouged holes galore
In most of the clothes that he wore,
And had scars from navel to neck.

He went silently out the back door,
Wobbly, shirt covered in gore,
Then fainted and fell to the deck.

He passed away during the night:
The dog found him dead at first light,
Then his wife, upon rising at nine.

The moral of this sad tale is quite sound:
Don't carve when there's no one around.
Wear a glove, carry Band-aids and Whine.
