| "My lidded vessels are turned on a lathe from
a solid piece of Burlwood" Cindy says. "They are fitted with
contrasting wood accent pieces and decorated with semi-precious stones
and 14k gold (and/or 23k gold leaf). I like to decorate the inside of
the piece, so that a secret is revealed when the lid is lifted." To see more of her exquisite turnings, visit Cindy online (www.cindydrozda.com), or click on the Turner of the Month link above. |

Turning teacher and Woodezine's old
friend Bill Grumbine has made his bowl turning DVD as comprehensive
as possible - and as long as possible! There are over two hours of bowl
turning information. It covers everything from choosing a log, chainsawing
it, band sawing, mounting the blank on the lathe, cutting techniques,
safety, preparing the blank for storage while drying, sharpening and
more. There's a discussion on form - what makes a good bowl, and how
to determine shape. Then Bill tackles finish turning - mounting the
dry blank on the lathe, cutting techniques and sanding. He covers finishing
off the bottom so that people will wonder how you did it, and a discussion
of three different techniques. He wraps up with a section on how to
finish off your bowl with a beautiful shine. Bill is shipping to anywhere
in the whole world, even New Jersey!
