One-of-a-kind
Shorebird Decoys

The Painted Bird presents one-of-a-kind decorative shorebird decoys from the studio of renowned wildlife carver Richard A. Morgan. Each decoy is faithfully reproduced and finished by hand, so no two are exactly alike. The extensive line of fine quality shorebird decoys is patterned after authentic early American hunting decoys. They are completely handmade of native woods, and hand painted to resemble the aged and painted appearance of the originals. As authentic reproductions, they are a recognized and sought-after collectible throughout the country.

Caricature Carver
Will Hayden began carving in 1970, whittling totem poles, relief carving and cowboy caricatures. In 1982 he began song bird and duck decoy carving. Today he teaches carving at Clark Community College in Vancouver and at "Wood U" in Vancouver. He travels all over the U.S. to carving shows, to serve as presenter and judge. Will also is a cartoonist - he sold his first cartoon for five cents back in the 5th grade! His cartoons have been featured in several wood carving magazines over the years.

Animated Carvings
Carver Gene Hochhalter from Minnesota wrote to tell us of a woodcarving gallery in Belleville Kansas that showcases the work of Paul Boyer.
"Paul has some of the most incredible animated woodcarvings you have ever seen. I have set up a (Web) site for him ... and made animated Gif files of most of his carvings. You'll see as many as 10 characters all doing their own thing as one carving."
