Our monthly Desktop Download is a 72 dpi image which you can download to your computer's desktop and then manipulate to your heart's content. All of our downloads are original images, which means we own the copyright. We give our subscribers full permission to use the images in whole or in part, for any purpose whatsoever. So many images available on the Internet are tied up legally that it's hard to find one to use in a logo or Web page. So, feel free! (We'd appreciate it if you were to provide a link to us at http://woodezine.com).

This month's Desktop Download is a rabbeting plane from Ireland. What we Americans call a rabbet is actually known as a rebate in most other countries. This one was picked up in an antique/flea market shop right on the Quays in Dublin. The Quays are where Guinness™ fills huge tankers with their popular beverage, to ship it all over the globe. As a kid in Dublin, I remember driving along the docks with my Dad and seeing ship after ship painted like a glass of Guinness - black up to the gunnels and creamy white from there to the top of the masts. The stout was brewed in the world famous brewery at St. James' Gate, a stone's throw from the River Liffey.

The plane is beechwood, brass and steel.
