12" Miter Saws from Delta
Last month, at the International Builders' Show in Las Vegas, NV, Delta Machinery gave woodworkers an opportunity to see their new 12" miter saws in action. The company's sales and marketing team demonstrated the features and benefits of each saw and compared them to the competitions'. First introduced back in September, Delta calls it "a comprehensive line of miter saws for users with varying demands and skill levels."

The line includes a 12" dual bevel miter saw (model 36-412, shown at right); a 12" single bevel miter saw (model 36-312); and a 12" compound miter saw (model MS450).

The 36-412 has a Front Bevel Lockª, and sports a powerful 15 Ampere motor with an electric blade brake. It comes with a 60T carbide-tipped saw blade, retractable blade guard, dust bag, wrenches and instruction manual.

Knife Grinding Stock (and custom grinding)
Charles G. G. Schmidt & Co., Inc. has a new SCHure Lock Carbide Knife System. This product, which features interlocking corrugations on both the face of the corrugated steel blank and the back of the solid carbide knife, gives the user the ability to grind their own carbide straight and profiled knives separately. The full corrugation design allows more adjustment than similar products. Available in three widths for planing and profiling. 60¡ corrugations only. Portable Vacuum
Ridgid's new WD4050 wet/dry shop vacuum is just the thing for woodworkers who leave the shop to complete a job. It's a 4-gallon, 5 HP, 9 Amp outfit with a lot of power in a small package. The unit only weighs 12 lbs and a very ergonomical handle makes it extremely portable. The 20 ft power cord lets you move around without constantly searching for outlets, and it stores right on the vacuum. The two-stage fine dust filter handles everything from drywall dust to wood shavings and the machine also blows air.

Duplicate Carving
Align-Rite Tool Company is now offering a 3D laser scanning service which can scan three-dimensional wooden parts. The company can scan a 3D object (for example, a wooden carving) and create software which will allow a customer's CNC router to replicate the carving. Align-Rite delivers a file in ASCII, Stl, IGES, DXF or other requested format. The relief on the part can be as small as a coin or as deep as 6 inches. Parts can be scaled up or down a bit, too.

 

They also do the actual CNC work for customers who don't own compatible CNC equipment. However, they are somewhat limited to what they can do in terms of routing, so eMail your questions. They produce prototypes and short runs.

Large Product Sanding Stations
