When Lisa came across some handcrafted timber furniture she was so taken with the natural beauty of the timber that she knew she had found her true calling. "I went on holidays to north Queensland and happened to walk into a table - literally. A local craftsman had made the table and within five minutes I had bought it because I fell in love with it. Within ten minutes I knew this was going to be my business". |
|
"I loved the timber not just because of the beauty of it but also because it was made from salvaged timbers. It was being re-used and turned into something beautiful." Eco Bush Furniture opened the first permanent gallery on the Gold Coast selling furniture pieces that had been made from naturally fallen Australian timber. Lisa refuses to stock anything other than Australian made products. |

There have been a lot of changes in her life since Lisa first opened her business, including her marriage to husband, Rob, and becoming a mother to daughter Zen. Rob comes from a family of boatbuilders, craftsmen and designers and also shares Lisa's love of ethically produced timber products. Lisa believed that many Australians didn't appreciate what is in their own backyard until they were shown it, and the net effect is that it has taken the business just five years to become truly successful. |
| "We have the best crafsmen in Queensland working for us," she said. "And I'm proud I've had a chance to promote them." |
