Paul Reiber
![]() |
A graduate of both Boston University and
the College of the Redwoods, Paul Reiber also attended the Starr King
School for Religious Leadership. In Boston, he studied the classics and in California, he came under the wing of James Krenov. The diversity of his formal education is perhaps a clue to understanding the complex artistic vision of this sculptor, carver and master builder. |
| Self employed as a studio furnituremaker,
woodcarver and sculptor since 1982, Paul also teaches workshops in drawing
and carving. His recent work has been widely exhibited in California,
and also has appeared in venues as distant as Colorado, Pennsylvania and
Oregon. In the past couple of years, for example, he has been represented
at California Design 2004; the Mendocino Arts Center; Baulines Craft Guild;
and in With The Grain Mendocino Woodcraft, at the Grace Hudson Museum.
For a more comprehensive list of his exhibitions, visit his Web site at
the address shown in the Contact box below. |

"I understand my art to be a dialogue between vision, technique and material," Paul says. "It's one that produces an object which engages the viewer in a dialogue about the spiritual content of the world. I choose to work with realistic, stylized images that suggest narrative content. I am enthralled by the physical experience of the work and the process that makes beautiful objects out of beautiful materials." |
