New DeWALT Saw Lets you Cut a Whole Lot Closer

Two new 12" Saws Makita U.S.A., Inc. unveiled two new 12" miter saws this month - the LS1214 and the LS1214F. While both models offer an impressive 4-1/2" max cutting depth, the LS1214F (shown) also has an on-board fluorescent light. Both saws feature an additional new positive stop at 33.9 degrees left, and a powerful 15 AMP motor. They also have soft start and electronic speed control, a pivoting fence, and miter capabilities of 47 degrees left and 52 degrees right. They're portable at only 52.5 lbs and come standard with a vertical vise, 60-tooth carbide tipped blade and a tall sub-fence for increased support of moldings and other materials. This is a serious woodworker's dream solution for shop storage. The units are built to last. For example, the Modular GearDrawer shown at left is a full 24" deep and each of the five drawers ride on full-extension ball bearing slides for smooth operation. It includes cushioned drawer liners, and drawers that are varied in size to accommodate an assortment of tools.You can easily fit a circular saw in the 8" bottom drawer.
